Throughout the shift the shift leader watches for the behavior they named. When they see it they recognize it specifically and immediately. Not good job. The exact thing the crew member did. That's the Nod.
When something needs to be addressed they do it with care. Direct but never harsh. Always in private. That's the Nudge.
